Adult Speech and Language Therapy is the assessment, treatment and management of acquired communication and swallowing disorders in adults over the age of 18, both in community settings (homes and care homes) and in hospital.

We are a specialised service that engages and works alongside adults who have long and enduring mental health issues, primarily Schizophrenia, who find it difficult to engage with other teams and services.

The Asylum Seekers and Refugees Service, from Livewell Southwest, works with asylum seekers and refugees in order to promote social inclusion and fair access to health services.

All children who come into care are offered an Initial Health assessment by a paediatrician with a specific interest in, and knowledge of, children in care.

Our friendly Speech and Language Team is experienced in helping children aged 0-18 who have difficulty speaking clearly, expressing themselves, communicating socially, understanding others, talking fluently, or feeding and swallowing.

The Community CAMHS team supports children, young people and their families from age 5 until their 18th birthday, who are registered with a Plymouth GP and where there are concerns regarding emotional wellbeing and mental ill health.

Livewell Southwest provides a specialist community learning disability service for adults with learning disabilities who live in Plymouth.

In Plymouth, we have a broad range of community mental health services available to support people of all ages with a variety of needs.

Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT) offer support to people who have serious or long-term mental health conditions within their community. In Plymouth, Livewell Southwest has four CMHTs which are mapped to mirror the locations of different GP practices around the city.

The community nursing service - what's sometimes known as district nursing - offers high-quality nursing care to people in their own home or nursing home.
