Junior Listen & Care Council (JLACC)

A group for 8 to 13 year olds to enjoy social activities and to help support projects that make a real change for young people in care in Plymouth.

Senior Listen & Care Council (SLACC)

A group for 13 to 17-year-olds who help shape policies and initiate change for young people in care in Plymouth.

Care Experience Council (CEC)

A supportive, social group for care-experienced young people aged 18-25 who also help shape policies and initiate change for all care-experienced young people in Plymouth

Young Safeguarders Group

A group for 14 to 19 year olds who support the Plymouth Safeguarding Children Partnership (PSCP) to make sure that the voices of children and young people are heard and that the information they read and the policies and procedures that affect their lives are fair and understandable. 

UK Youth Parliament and Plymouth Youth Cabinet

A group for 11 to 18 year olds, enabling young people to provide strong community leadership and work together to deliver their manifesto commitments. They participate in national initiatives to enable wider platform for Plymouth young people to be heard and learn from others, as well as work with local councillors, parliamentarians, and partners to ensure that Plymouth becomes the best place for young people to live and learn.

About us

The Participation Service is made up of a team of professionally qualified youth workers and youth support workers.

The team aims to facilitate children and young people having their say in a number of ways. For example:

• Influencing health, education and police provision within the City
• Interviewing candidates for jobs where people work with children, young people and families
• Helping to create documents that young people can understand and relate to
• Supporting the work of the local safeguarding board
• Recognising the achievements of children who are in the care of the local authority and supporting them to have a say in the way the Council runs their services
• Youth democracy
• And so much more!
