Welcome to our latest newsletter, which we hope you find useful and informative. If there's a colleague or another provider in your network that you think would like to receive the newsletter, please feel free to forward it onto them.

Carers Rights Day
The theme for this year's Carers Rights Day has yet to be announced. Please let us know if you have any activities planned by sending an email to commissioning@plymouth.gov.uk with "Carers Right Day" in the subject field.
The Big Summer Survey
Two weeks left
Last month we launched The Big Summer Survey, sparking a national conversation with children in England about their experiences over the summer holidays.
There are two weeks left to complete The Big Summer Survey. We want to hear from as many children as possible from across the country. So far, over 10,000 children have taken part and had their voices heard.
The Big Summer Survey forms part of the Independent Review into family life which will inform the Government about the best ways to support families across the country, including what role schools can play.
The survey is accessible, takes less than 10 minutes and is a great activity for children aged 7-17 to do in school as part of wider discussions about time with family and the summer holidays. The Big Summer Survey will close on 24th October.
Black History Month
Learn about Black History this October
From movie nights to food demonstrations and storytelling, there are lots of activities throughout October to celebrate this year's Black History Month in Plymouth.
Black History Month aims to raise awareness of the history, cultures and contributions that Black individuals and communities have made.
Black History Month was first celebrated in the UK in 1987 and takes place every October.

Citywide Youth Survey
We are carrying out a city-wide consultation with young people aged 11 to 25 years old. The core theme is an enquiry about how we can create, expand and improve our youth centres and the wider offerings for young people in our city. We are hoping that you will be able to assist us in reaching as many young people in the city as possible.
We will be running the consultation until 21 October 2022.
Complete the Young People Survey
If we could kindly ask that you promote the attached poster with young people, contacts, and colleagues.
Young people should be at the heart of what we do, their voices heard in the decisions we make and throughout the opportunities we explore. Once completed we will share the findings with you.
Resources available for families experiencing Furniture Poverty
The End Furniture Poverty organisation has produced a range of resources aimed at individuals and families on low incomes and in need of furniture and appliances; they've also produced a guide for support workers on how they can help their clients acquire furniture and appliances, including contact details for grant-giving organisations and charities.
The guidance and other resources can be downloaded from the Resources - End Furniture Poverty website.
New online hub for cost of living support
The rising cost of living means many families are finding things tough at the moment.
Rising household bills can be a real worry but remember help is available for those who are struggling.
We've put together a help hub on our website to help families find the support they need. It signposts a wide range of support - from welfare benefits such as universal credit to where to get help with gas and electricity bills.
The hub also includes information on help with council tax, housing costs and how to access food banks, as well as how to contact voluntary organisations working across the city.
