Housing associations
A housing association is a not-for-profit organisation that owns, lets, and manages rental housing. Any profits that the housing association makes are reinvested into properties you can rent.
Housing associations typically offer different types of accommodation, which can include:
- Social rent (below market rates)
- Affordable rent (up to 80% of market rates)
- Shared ownership schemes
- Supported housing for people with specific needs
Many housing associations also provide community services, such as:
- Support for elderly or disabled residents
- Employment and training programmes
- Community development initiatives
