Community equipment is a range of products designed to help you continue to stay active, comfortable, and independent in your own home, as well as safe in the community.
Equipment ranges from relatively simple items, such as walking sticks, crutches, and walking frames to aid mobility, to complex equipment like beds, hoists, and pressure care equipment.
As the equipment is provided by your local authority or NHS, to find out whether you are eligible, you will need to be assessed by a local therapist or clinician.
To arrange an assessment, please call 01752 668000 or complete our online assessment of need form.
Once you've been assessed and equipment has been prescribed for you, depending on where you live, either we can call you to arrange a convenient time to deliver and install the equipment, or you can call us.
Once you've been assessed and the equipment has been prescribed for you, we will call you to arrange a convenient time to deliver and install the equipment.
Keeping in touch
Once you have received the equipment, you can contact us about any concerns or issues that crop up; for example, if you think your equipment might need repairing. Some items of equipment do need regular testing, which we will also arrange. It is important that we can keep in touch to let you know if there have been product recalls or complete safety checks, so please do keep us informed if you move addresses or your circumstances change. The contact telephone number for NRS is 0800 9887344.
Returning equipment
We might occasionally check to see if you still need the equipment, and if you don't, we can arrange to collect it.
It is important to return equipment. Millions of pounds are spent each year in Plymouth alone, and much of the equipment is designed to be recycled and re-used, which helps keep costs down. It also means that unused equipment can be given to someone else, so they can remain independent in their home.
Call the number on the equipment barcode label, which is 0800 988 7344, and your local customer service team will be happy to help. We will either arrange to collect it from you, or you may be able to drop it off.
