Emotional Literacy Support Assistant Training

What does the training involve?

Emotional Literacy Support Assistant Training aims to support teaching assistants in building upon their existing knowledge and skills to fulfil their role as an ELSA. An ELSA's role is to support children and young people in school to understand and regulate their own emotions while also respecting the feelings of those around them. ELSA is an initiative developed by educational psychologists who apply their professional knowledge of children's social and emotional development to areas of need experienced by pupils.

On completion of ELSA training, ELSAs should attend supervision six times a year (2 hour sessions) to maintain their ELSA status. This should be delivered by an Educational Psychology Service and is offered through the Plymouth Educational Psychology Service. Please get in touch via the contacts below should you require more information.
