Problems with building work, decorating or home improvements

Building Work Panel

If you had work done on your home and there's an issue caused by the contractor, you should be able to get it fixed or get some of your money back.

No matter what the issue is, you'll need to talk to the contractor and come to an agreement.

You should take up the issue with the contractor who arranged the work, even if they passed it on to another business.

Before you do that, it's a good idea to:

  • gather any paperwork and receipts
  • take photos to use as evidence of the issue
  • make notes about what's happened, including dates and times

What you should do next depends on the type of issue.
