We're a local charity working in the community to support older people, their families, and carers. We want everyone to be able to love later in life.
We offer a range of services to help older people feel more included in the community. Our current aim is to try and tackle loneliness in the Plymouth area through numerous activities and one off events.
Our services
Hospital Discharge Service | Our Discharge Service exists solely to support the journey to independence by offering a high-quality, flexible, and free short-term service tailored to suit individual needs and aspirations. Our fully trained and experienced teams deliver a safe and caring service with an emphasis on promoting independence, social engagement, and good health and wellbeing. |
Hairdressing - Elder Care and Dementia Specialist | Stylist Lyn has worked in hairdressing for over 30 years. With clients aged from 1 to 100, Lyn has experience working with people with mobility issues, long-term illnesses, and dementia. |
Reaching out to those most vulnerable across the city experiencing loneliness and/or isolation, our Befriending Service can match an individual with one of our friendly volunteers. Calls enable our clients to enjoy the comfort of a regular check-in, companionship, and the opportunity to access additional services as and when required.
A one-day dementia awareness training course with a big difference. Not only was it co-produced with people living with dementia, but all the key learning points on this course are taught, via embedded video clips, by people who have dementia.
Our Gardening and Handyperson Team can undertake basic gardening tasks such as cutting the lawn, weeding, planting flowers, clearing paths, etc. You can book a one-off visit or regular visits to suit your needs. All of our gardeners have their own equipment. We can also help with odd jobs such as changing light bulbs, hanging curtains, or with minor household maintenance.
Age UK Plymouth can provide you with free, independent, and confidential information and advice on a range of issues relating to those aged 50+. This includes information on rights and entitlements, local services and support available, information on staying safe and warm at home, and housing options. |
