The best way to describe the ethos of our school is through the word 'family'. That is what we are—a family of pupils, parents, staff, and governors who look after each other and look out for each other. We want to make sure that each one of us feels valued, celebrated, challenged, and supported. While we understand that academic achievement is important, we believe that first and foremost we need to feel safe and happy; when that is secure, then all the rest will follow.
We want to make sure that our children develop a passion for learning. We cannot teach them everything that they will ever need to know, but we can teach them how they can always go about learning it. We are not afraid to make mistakes or to get in 'the learning pit'.
Ultimately, we want all of our school family to be 'cute, creative, and confident', no matter how young or not so young we are.

Montpelier is a school which values the principle of 'family'. We see our family as including the child, parents, carers and school staff. There is no difference in our approach to working with children who have special educational needs. We are an inclusive school that works closely with children and their families to support the development of a child's strengths and areas of need.
All children at Montpelier receive quality first teaching which includes effective assessment of needs and implementation of provision that supports a range of needs. As well as daily alterations to teaching approaches that support those children with SEND a range of targeted support can be offered to enable a child to progress within areas of their social and academic development.
Plymouth uses an orange 'Local Offer icon' to show services that define themselves as suitable for children and young people with SEND. These are part of Plymouth's SEND Local Offer. We recommend that you contact the service provider to make sure the service is suitable for your child or young person.
