Infant Schools in Plymouth
Infant schools provide early primary education for children aged 4 to 7 years old, covering Key Stage 1 of the national curriculum.
Key Stage 1 corresponds to school years 1 and 2.
Some infant schools are stand-alone, while others are joined with nursery classes or linked to a "feeder" junior school that children progress to at age 7. The infant school curriculum focuses on developing basic literacy and numeracy, core subjects like science, computing, arts, etc through creative play-based learning.
At the end of Key Stage 1, children transition from infant to junior/primary school at age 7.
