Busy Bees Plymouth is about a 20-minute drive from the city centre and is located very close to the city's hospital and Business Park.
Busy Bees Plymouth Nursery is a purpose-built building with four rooms to care for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and foundation-aged children. Three of our rooms have direct access to a safe and enclosed garden, which is perfect to extend and elaborate on play and learning. Furthermore, we have our own woodlands onsite, which allows us to give the children the opportunity to engage in forest school.
Children are welcomed to have breakfast, followed by nutritional snacks, a two-course main meal, and a high tea, all prepared and cooked fresh on site by our chef. We are proud of our 5-star food hygiene rating.
We pride ourselves on our devoted team of childcare professionals who are all passionate about delivering exceptional care and fun.
The staff all have varying qualifications from Level 2 to Level 6, with some undertaking training to gain a higher qualification. Busy Bees offers the staff a training programme to support and continually develop their childcare practice, as well as the team having access to networks offered by the local authority. Some staff members take on additional responsibilities. These include health and safety, behaviour management, a special educational needs coordinator, and a training mentor.
Our staff members work within designated age groups so we can provide consistency for the children with a 'key worker'. The key worker builds up a good relationship with individual children, ensuring their needs are met and they feel comfortable in their surroundings, and providing support with the settling-in process for new children starting the nursery.
Preparing for School
In order to best prepare the children for the next big chapter of their lives, Busy Bees does all that they can to support and celebrate the transition. All of the planned activities and experiences that take place within our Busy Bees Nursery in Plymouth are designed to provide a foundation of skills that will help them grow into confident and capable learners.

A day at our nursery - a step by step guide
It's hard to describe a typical day at a Busy Bees nursery, as there is so much variety in every day, but here are some things you can expect.
Arrival
It's a busy time as we welcome children to start the day. After parking in our designated safe parking or drop- off spaces (if available in your centre), you and your child will arrive through our secure and monitored entrances, to be greeted by the friendly and familiar nursery team and your child's very own key person.
Mornings
Your child will join others in their nursery area. From the baby room right through to our pre-school classroom, each area has its own distinctive look and feel, to reflect every stage of development. It will become a place your child will love, with endless resources and a variety of stimulating activities developed by our team to support their development.
Outdoor play
Our outdoor areas offer the space for your child to explore and take risks with the support of our team. Outdoor play encourages natural curiosity and allows children to develop their gross motor skills while benefiting from healthy fresh air.
Lunch
Lunch is a time to enjoy a freshly-prepared and balanced meal prepared by our chefs on site. There's a healthy and varied menu every day, and we encourage children to discover different tastes and textures, try different food and enjoy the experience of sharing a sociable meal with others.
Indoor play
Our indoor spaces are designed to ensure your child's time with us will be one of delight and wonder. Each area has its own nurturing atmosphere with environments thoughtfully planned and equipped with the best resources to meet and exceed the needs of all of our children through exciting activities every day.
Naps and quiet time
For nap times, our environments are transformed in to cosy, snuggly areas where babies and children can get the sleep and rest they require for their own personal and developmental needs. Sleep is an important part of the nursery day for our babies and toddlers, so by working together with our parents, we ensure that each child's needs are carefully considered and met.
Snacks and breaks
Snack times at nursery are a great opportunity to introduce children to different flavours and textures. Our snack times are well prepared and will consist of a selection of fresh fruit / vegetable sticks and toast or other baked goods. They can support your child's learning and development in many ways, so we endeavour to make them as varied and inviting as possible, to ensure all of our children look forward to these social times in nursery.
Home time
At the end of each day, your child's Key Worker will tell you all about their exciting day at nursery, so you'll know what they have eaten and how much they have drank, how long they have slept for and what activities they have done and enjoyed the most. We want you to feel part of their day so you will be fully informed to ensure you don't miss out on any important achievements and development milestones.
Keeping in touch
You can keep in touch with our nurseries at any time of day and follow your child's progress via our app and the website's Parent Zone. Each centre also has a parent room - a dedicated space where you can speak in confidence to our team about your child's nursery life.
