Our school
We offer pupils of all abilities, aged 7-19, a range of educational programmes at our school. Pupils can be full-time or part-time, working in small groups or one-on-one. Pupils at our school often have diagnosed or undiagnosed special educational needs and associated barriers to learning, including SEMH, BESD, ADHD, autism, and Aspergers. Some pupils prefer smaller learning environments; some have been excluded from other schools; and some have emotional barriers to accessing mainstream education.
The main school site has the facilities to deliver a wide-ranging curriculum comprising academic and vocational programmes. The main school site includes workshop facilities for motor engineering and construction, art and music studios, a food technology kitchen, a range of specialist classrooms, a gym, and a multi-use games area. Through our Woodlands and Yarner sites, we are able to offer additional facilities, including access to woodland, farmland, and gardens, to enhance our curriculum offerings.
Each student has a personalised plan, which can include academic and vocational qualifications and accreditation, including GCSE, BTEC, Functional Skills, Entry Level, and AQA Unit Awards across a wide variety of subjects. Students can work 1:1, be part of small groups, or have a combination of these. Our programmes combine the best of therapeutic intervention with accredited programmes of experiential and academic learning. Each student's plan is completely flexible for changing needs.
Admissions
Pupils are referred to the school by the local authority, other agencies such as social care, and sometimes other schools. If a pupil has an EHCP, then parents can request a place at this school, and a pupil can join the school at any time of the year. Once a pupil is referred to the school, they are invited to visit and look around before they accept a place.
