Pluss (18+, Supported Employment, Social Enterprise)
Pluss is an award-winning Community Interest Company that supports thousands of people with disabilities and other disadvantages move towards and into employment each year. Pluss provides the Work & Health Programme (in Southern England) and Work Choice throughout Plymouth and West Devon.
Pluss also provides specialist services in Plymouth for people with a learning disability who are looking for paid work. This includes the Project SEARCH programme. We also deliver the Personal Mentor Network Scheme for 18-24 year olds who are experiencing extreme difficulty getting into employment.
Work and Health Programme (18+)
The Work and Health Programme helps individuals 18+ find and keep a job if you're out of work. It's voluntary - unless you've been out of work and claiming unemployment benefits for 24 months. You'll get personal support to help you:
- identify your employment needs
- match your skills to work that's available
- put you in touch with employers
- find long-term employment
- get training to help you find work
- manage health problems to reduce their impact on work
New Enterprise Allowance (NEA)
The New Enterprise Allowance is a package of support aimed at would-be entrepreneurs aged 18 and over and currently in receipt of Jobseeker's Allowance, Universal Credit, or Employment and Support Allowance, or those on Income Support who are also a lone parent, sick, or disabled. Speak to your Jobcentre Plus work coach - they will explain how NEA could help you.
National Careers Service
National Careers Service advisers can provide you with information, advice and guidance on skills, learning and work. Explore the different ways to get in touch with an adviser.
Disability Confidence
Disability Confident is a scheme that is designed to help employers recruit and retain disabled people and people with health conditions for their skills and talent. A number of local employers are part of the scheme. Watch the Disability Confidence videos.
Change 100
Change100 brings together the UK's top employers and talented disabled students and graduates to offer three months of paid work experience. Since its launch in 2014, Change100 has partnered with over 90 employers across the UK to host interns including Barclays, the BBC, Skanska, Lloyds and Taylor Wimpey.
Plymouth's Local Offer is organised into four main categories covering the following age ranges:
- Early years (0 to 5 years old)
- Primary (5 to 11 years old)
- Secondary (11 to 18 years old)
- Preparing for adulthood
