We have experience with clients who have suffered strokes or have conditions that effect their mobility, as well as rehabilitation for clients following hospital stays. We have also worked with clients with conditions such as MS, cerebral palsy, and a learning disability.

The home is located in a large detached building beside Stoke village in the Devonport area of Plymouth. A full range of amenities and facilities are a short distance from the home, and the service has its own vehicles.

Astor Hall can accommodate up to 26 clients over three floors. The dining room, kitchen, and main lounge are on the ground floor, and a second quiet lounge is located on the first floor. A shaft lift accesses all floors in the building, and all areas of the building are fully wheelchair accessible. There are a number of bath and shower rooms in the building, including a wheel-in shower and a fully accessible side-opening bath. All the bedrooms are single, though none have en-suite toilet facilities.

Astor Hall has a large dining room, a very large lounge, and an activity area, amongst other smaller communal areas. There is a large area of parking space and a garden at the front of the building. Also at the front of the building is a fully accessible patio area, enabling residents to sit outside the building.

Day Care

Astor operates a daycare facility Monday through Friday. Transport and meals can be provided at no cost, or clients can make their own arrangements.

Respite Care

We do accept respite care bookings, subject to availability. This service is for clients wanting to visit Plymouth or for families who need a caring break. We keep a room available for respite care year-round, although this is a very popular facility, and we recommend that you book well in advance.

We pride ourselves on enabling people to fulfil their potential and to continue their lives as independently as possible.

Accommodation

The home has 26 single bedrooms, all with fitted hand basins. Each room has wardrobes and chests of drawers, amongst other furniture. However, we find that clients often bring in their own furniture to suit their own tastes and needs. We also encourage clients to decorate their rooms as they wish, including paint colours, curtains and bedding, carpets, and light fittings.

We have only owned this home for a very short period of time, and as part of our improvement plans for the home, we intend to refurbish every room.
