Plymouth Dementia Action Alliance

The Plymouth Dementia Action Alliance (PDAA) is made up of over 100 organisations who have come together to transform the quality of life for people with dementia and those who care for them in Plymouth.

It was formed in 2011 as a partnership between Plymouth University and Plymouth City Council which continues to the present day.

The PDAA aims to develop a Dementia Friendly Community which:

Recognises the great diversity amongst individuals with dementia and their carers, promotes their inclusion in all areas of community life, respects their decisions and lifestyle choices, anticipates and responds flexibly to their dementia related needs and preferences.

All PDAA members are asked to sign a declaration which commits them to the aims of the National Dementia Action Alliance and to create an action plan of how they will work towards becoming more dementia friendly as an organisation, including a minimum of three actions. Organisations that take steps to become dementia friendly can then be recognised with the use of the 'working to become dementia friendly' logo.

Our membership is drawn from all sectors within the city and continues to grow and develop. The PDAA welcome new partners and supports them in making their organisation more dementia friendly. Also, we actively encourage people living with dementia and their carers to get involved in our work and have their say.
