Unpaid Carers walk-in Covid Vaccination Clinic
Thursday 28 April 2022, 9.30 am to 8.00 pm

No booking is needed just turn up!
The COVID vaccine roll-out has been a huge success in Plymouth, but some unpaid carers haven't had their first or second jab and are being encouraged to get their vaccinations as soon as possible.
Boosters are also available for everyone aged 16+, three months after the second jab. So, if you need a booster this walk-in clinic is for you too.
You can bring the person you care for with you as we have a room for vaccinations to take place and a pop-up carer's café where you and your loved one can have a free hot drink and a snack.
Some people would like to have their vaccinations or booster but have something that is stopping them such as worrying about the vaccination and possible side effects, no transport, or no support for the person they care for, and they are not able to leave the house.

Community Youth Art Competition 2022
Young Carers Development Trust
The Young Carers Development Trust is delighted to announce its YAC Aspirations Conference is going ahead in person at Bristol City Hall on 20 April 2022.
The event is targeted at young carers aged 14-18 but is open for carers up to the age of 25.
Attendees can choose 4 out of 12 workshops which are all specifically designed to address the educational needs of young carers.
A buffet lunch is provided and there is an optional tour of the University of Bristol campus after the event.
Places are limited to 70 for young carers and 30 for professionals accompanying them so early booking is recommended.

Launch of Building Support for Children, Young People and Families in Plymouth
We are pleased to share that the Building Support approach was signed off last week by our strategic partners. This is a new and different way of thinking about what used to be termed 'thresholds'. It's based on working restoratively, with consent and seeking to build support for families at the earliest opportunity, in the least oppressive way we can.
This approach has been agreed upon at every level, by all partners within Plymouth. Schools, colleges, voluntary agencies, social care, police, early years, health and everyone else are all signed up to work together, differently, to make a difference to children and young people.

All 'referrals' into Gateway/MASH should now be made using the new MASH Contact form.
The Case Resolution protocol has been updated in line with the same values.
Thank you for all the hard work that goes into keeping children and young people safe in Plymouth.
You do an amazing job, and this new approach isn't about working any harder but about working differently.
It's an exciting opportunity to re-think the way we do things and make a difference to children, young people and families in Plymouth.

Free holiday clubs over the Easter holiday
If your child is entitled to benefit related free school meals, you can sign them up for one of our free holiday clubs.
Over the Easter school holidays, our Sports Development Unit is working in partnership with several providers including Plymouth Snowsports Centre, National Marine Aquarium and Plymouth YMCA to offer a variety of holiday clubs across the city.
The clubs are open to school-aged children from Reception to Year 11 who receive benefit related free school meals.
We are also able to offer free places to looked after children, children with Education, Health Care Plans, foster children, young carers, children of recognised refugees and children from asylum-seeking families.

Health and Care Bill
An amendment to the Health and Care Bill which was passed in the Commons having been brought forward by the Government places a new duty on NHS hospital trusts in England to ensure that unpaid carers are involved as soon as feasible when plans for the patient's discharge are being made.
The amendment covers all carers of adults needing care and support following hospital discharge, including health care support. This means that young carers looking after adults would also be covered.
