St. Matthew's is a church school with a strong Christian vision and values, as well as a passion and drive to ensure that our pupils receive the very best education in order to ensure they can leave us as successful, aspirational, responsible, curious, and spiritual citizens.
Children are encouraged and given opportunities to 'Let Their Light Shine' by achieving their full potential both academically and personally.
We strive to ensure all children attain the very highest standards across the curriculum while experiencing a wide range of other types of learning.
This is supported by our strong ethos of supporting and nurturing our St. Matthew's families.
We have a strong pastoral team, which enables us to build positive relationships with them. We approach this in a holistic manner, which builds and strengthens these relationships.
Our school lies at the heart of the growing community and offers opportunities and activities for adults and children outside of school hours
Our Nursery
Mini Matt's is our onsite school-based nursery that has been going since the school opened in September 2015. We are a thriving and busy setting, and we have new children regularly joining our nursery family.
Our provision is for children as young as three years old. Children can join us following their third birthday. Parents can access 15 or 30 hours of government-funded sessions in the term following their third birthday. You will automatically be eligible for the 15 hours, but you must apply for the 30 hours.
We are open from Monday to Friday between 8:00 am and 5:45 pm. Children are offered breakfast, snacks, and a light teatime snack during the day. Lunches can either be packed from home or a school meal can be provided by our wonderful academy kitchen, which offers a range of meal options and is able to cater for a range of dietary requirements.
If you are interested in your child joining our setting, please do not hesitate to contact us and come and have a look around.
To apply for a place, please speak with our office team on 01752 395969.
We look forward to welcoming you and your child to gain a real insight into our nursery and the high-quality provision that we offer.

St. Matthew's welcomes all children with SEND. We are fully inclusive; with our inclusion being individualised, so that all pupils achieve the best possible outcomes from their starting point. We believe in a holistic and transparent approach and encourage parents to work with us in supporting their children's learning and development. We believe all pupils deserve the very best possible start and this is where our SENCO and Inclusion and Pastoral Lead will listen to you, give appropriate advice, create a clear plan and update you on your child's progress through regular meetings. The right outside professional support will be accessed at the right time to support your child's learning and development further.
Plymouth uses an orange 'Local Offer icon' to show services that define themselves as suitable for children and young people with SEND. These are part of Plymouth's SEND Local Offer. We recommend that you contact the service provider to make sure the service is suitable for your child or young person.
