ROARR stands for Morice Town's learning dispositions:

  • Resourceful
  • Open
  • Aspirational
  • Resilient
  • Reflective

Children who display positive learning dispositions are most likely to do well at school. The school is currently involved in improving pupils' attitudes towards their learning through 'Visible Learning.' One of the essential parts of a teacher's role is to make it clear to pupils 'how they are doing' and 'where they are going' in their learning. We will be talking a lot more about learning than the tasks they are completing. When they are clear about their own abilities, pupils can accelerate their progress.

We will be continuing our 'Visible Learning' journey with our pupils, so please support us by asking them about their learning and our ROARR dispositions.

All pupils will leave Morice Town Primary and Drake Academies with the skills and knowledge to know 'who they are and where they are in the world'. They will have a sense of place and purpose to thrive in a multicultural, diverse society.

All member schools in Reach South have a similar approach to meeting the needs of pupils with special educational needs and are supported by the local authority to ensure that all pupils, regardless of their specific needs, make the best possible progress in school. All schools are supported to be inclusive and meet the needs of pupils with special educational needs.

Morice Town Primary School is a vibrant inner-city school that values individuality. We are committed to giving all of our children every opportunity to succeed and reach the highest level of personal achievement, whatever their ability or specific needs, by providing equal opportunities for all within our school.

The school works hard and successfully with pupils, parents, and carers to enable pupils to achieve the best possible educational and other outcomes, become confident in communicating their own views, and make successful transitions.

With the 0-25 SEND Code of Practice 2014 firmly in place, we endeavour to work with education, health, and social care to provide a coordinated approach for all children with SEN.

Plymouth uses an orange 'Local Offer icon' to show services that define themselves as suitable for children and young people with SEND. These are part of Plymouth's SEND Local Offer. We recommend that you contact the service provider to make sure the service is suitable for your child or young person.
